Mobility in Spain: new trends

Mobility in Spain: new trends
Year 2020 It will be a decade of transformation for the Urban mobility. Powers of the automotive and electricity sector try to change their structure to adapt to citizens' behavior changes. Autonomous vehicles, IoT, mobile apps, shared economy and of course, vehicle electrification will mark the trend. There are many questions we could ask ourselves about the Future of transport:
  • Will all 100% electric vehicles be? Can they self -generate energy?
  • How are the behaviors of private transport users? Are we efficient when moving?
  • How much public space should be dedicated to private vehicles?
In this article I will talk about 3 axes that I consider fundamental when talking about urban mobility. Electric mobility

Drivers' behaviors in cities

We want to build intelligent, healthy and low carbon cities. Improving mobility is improving access to jobs, services, leisure places. It seems that the combustion vehicle is not compatible with the Health nor coexistence in cities what makes electric vehicles an intelligent solution. More than 50% of the trips that are made by car have a single person at the wheel and most trips are to travel distances of less than 8 kilometers. These behaviors attached to the restrictions of polluting vehicles and parking problems make electric motorcycle an optimal option to move through the city.

Redesign public space to meet the growth of the urban population and its needs

Cars and their infrastructure such as parking occupy more than 50 % of the public space of the cities and the urban population continues to grow. Today, our cities represent only 2% of the earth's surface, however, they house around 54% of the world's population, represent 75% of energy consumption and are responsible for around 80% of emissions and pollution. And the percentages are growing. By 2050, two thirds of the world population will live in urban areas. It is also forecast that transport energy consumption will double to meet the demand for travel in future cities in the world. As more people move to cities, we must think of new solutions to make transport more sustainable. We have to design cities designed for people and not for cars.

Relationship between mobility and health in cities

Once electric vehicles have been introduced into cities, they will improve the travel and life experience for millions of people and companies every day. Not only the automotive or electricity industry should be interested in this change, air quality and noise elimination means improving the quality of life of many people by reducing heart conditions, stress, respiratory problems ... Reduce roads and create space for people will boost sports activity and healthy habits. Spaces can also be created to improve coexistence and achieve mental and spiritual physical well -being. Velca, the Spanish electric motorcycle brand that has launched this 2020 is able to transform mobility into cities with the ultimate goal of making people's life easier.
